Who can do an internship/field study?

The faculty of the Marriage, Family & Human Development and Home and Family Living departments believe that actual experience in the field through an internship is central to the undergraduate's ability to integrate theory and practice. Although it is not required for graduation,  every MFHD and HFL major/minor with 9 or more major credits is encouraged to complete an internship/field study.

Why do an internship?

  1. It's an opportunity to observe and apply Marriage, Family and Human Development course concepts to a wide range of family life experiences.
  2. To contribute to the well-being of families throughout the world through hands-on experience, thus serving as a responsible and active citizen.
  3. To prepare for the time when you will rear your own family by providing experiences where you will gain knowledge about becoming a better spouse and parent.
  4. To gain quality work experience that will enhance your abilities to obtain employment and perform well in the work force.
  5. To increase your chances of being accepted into the advanced degree program of your choice.
