FAQ About New Programs in the FL Majors

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. If I am already an MFHD or HFL major do I have to fulfill the new major requirements?

NO, students already in the program are not required to change to the new program. The MAP they used when they began the program is the one they use to finish.

  2. If I am already an MFHD major can I count the current MFHD classes that are changing numbers and/or switching to the HFL program as part of the Elective Requirement?

YES, the students must follow the course requirements and class options of the year they declared their major. The classes that count towards MFHD the year the major was declared, will remain an option regardless of class name or number change. Students who switch to the new program which starts Fall 2004, will not have this option. Any classes that are added to the new program will not count for the old programs unless approved on an individual basis by the Department Chair or his/her curriculum representative.

  3. Can I switch to a new program if I want to?
  4. YES, students may choose to switch to one of the new programs if it benefits them. Current students will need to look carefully to decide which program best fits their needs. Once you switch to a new major, you cannot switch back to the old one.

  5. I've been working on the old major but I never declared it. What can I do?
  6.

You'll need to choose between one of the new emphases available.
