Minor In Family Life

(17-18 total hours)

1. Students must take at least 1 course in Marriage, Family, & Human Development (MFHD) and 1 course in Home & Family Living (HFL).

2. Complete the following course (3 hours)

  • FL 100: Strengthening Marriage & Family: Proclamation Principles and Scholarship

3. Complete two of the following courses (5-6 hours)

  • HFL 223: Marriage Preparation OR HFL 224: Marriage Enhancement
  • HFL 371: Work and Relationships in the Home
  • MFHD 160: Family Processes
  • MFHD 210: Child Development
  • MFHD 240: Parenting
  • MFHD 333: Adolescence OR PSYCH 321: Adolescence
  • MFHD 334: Adult Aging and Development
  • REL 234: LDS Marriage and Families

4. Complete one of the following courses (3 hours)

  • HFL 350: Family Finance
  • HFL 472: Temporal Welfare in Families
  • BusMgt 200: Personal Finance

5. Complete two of the following courses (5-6 hours)

  • HFL 100: Home & Family Living
  • HFL 110: Food Preparation in the Home
  • HFL 370: Families in Communities
  • HFL 340: Family Meal Management
  • HFL 489: Family Public Policy
  • ANTH 431: Marriage, Family and Kinship
  • HLTH 436: Social Hygiene
  • HIST 319: The Family in Europe OR HIST 378: American Family History
  • NURS 288: Family Health Management
  • REL 261: Family History and Genealogy
  • RMYL 301: Family Recreation

*Note: Any extra courses taken from category #3 may also fulfill requirements for category #5. Courses required for your major cannot count for the minor.
